The reality of my surroundings

I’m working from home today. Working in a very loose way, interspersed with tv and pottering round the house. Currently burnt out by the whole move. If I had thought it through I would have booked a proper go away and relax sort of holiday straight after the move.

Over the last couple of weeks I’ve become a right little wingy bitch about my job. However part of me has always realised that its because I’m tired and once batteries are recharged the inevitable stomp of the Newt will continue. In the meantime Its not all doom and gloom. Some progress has been made. I’m now very much my own man at work (something that in black moments I turn into a “oh my boss is a jerk, and nobody listens to me” attitude) and in about three months the cv is going to be filled with skills that three months ago I didn’t have. I’m currently assessing whether or not staying at Manchester Uni is the best thing for me career wise. It may be incredibly non-pressured, but sometimes the pace is far to slow and it does the soul good to get projects out once in a blue moon. The inefficiency of the place also staggers me and is beginning to frustrate me on a daily basis. They’ve spent the best part of two years reassessing the pay scales, something that they’ve still not done completely. Saying this its not guaranteed that me going into private industry will be a step in the right direction. Things might be just as inefficient and high pressured to boot.

Some serious soul searching over the next ten days off.

Anyone for Tiffin?

The Blue Tiffin in Oldham Very much expecting a quiet night in, a bit of pc gaming and a slow grumpy descent into an early bed. Instead Rachel suggested we go out to eat.

So off we go to the Blue Tiffin, an Indian resturant were you would expect a Kwik fit to be. However the rather odd location was quickly forgotten as the pleasant and eager staff looked after us in nice relaxing surroundings. Had an ace Veggie Rogan Josh washed down with a couple of pints of well kept Cobra lager, while Rach had a Paneer Samber. We chatted about future plans;house extendsion, Brian’s 60th, the patter of small newtling feet. Then with bellies waving white flags of defeat squeezed into the car and headed home.

An ace little resturant we’ll definatly be going to again 😀

You’re a big man, but you’re in bad shape. With me it’s a full time job. Now behave yourself

Had fun weekend, now tidying up the loose ends before ten days off over Easter. Bliss.

Friday night was the long talked about game of Mythic Russia. Meet up with Chris Lee, Martin Smart and Chris Jones for a night of German Beer, Lager and Teutonic Knights hosted by the lovely Stuart Stansfield. The game started at about 9 and stomped along until about 3am.

Saturday. After a slow morning chatting to the guys came back via the bus mid afternoon. Much improving my knowledge of North Manchester in the process. Did some token tidying up and finally watched “Get Carter” which defiantly wins my award for bleakest film that I’ve seen in recent history. Favourite line gives the subject title of this post. Rach arrived home early from work, after being let out early to pick up BBC who had been at the vets overnight after losing yet another of his lives in a cat fight. He now has a bald patch on the right hand side of his head and stitches in his right ear. I’m not sure which is worse the bonkers cat who charges round the house, or this sullen wall flower that mopes everywhere I go.

Sunday. The excess of Friday night truly caught up with me. Despite the queasiness and general stiffness I got a fair bit of tidying and sorting done, before settling down to watch a couple of episodes of the Green wing back to back. SHEEP!!!

Go! Bro Go!

I’ll let my brother George explain this bit of good news;

Mr George“That word is; yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse I got offered that job at Sheffield Magistrates I’ve been waiting on, I start on the 17th April!
You beauty!!!

I’m now going to check my lottery numbers for yesterday to see if my luck can get any better.”

Should be the making of the lad, going thorough a metal detector everyday to get to his desk.

Spring has sprung!!!

And it feels funky.

However a strange malaise has fallen on me recently. With move out of the way it all feels a bit anticlimactic. Without the pressure of having to get things done for the house move/unpacking I’m left feeling a bit unmotivated and lost. Now is the time to get on with all those things I said I would after I moved house. I’m sure with a bit of bloody minded persistence I’ll get things moving on.

Nice Andy is officially our first visitor. He sampled the delights of one of our locals, The half way House, on Friday. After tea and a few pints we then retired back to Château le Smethport for more beers and Kung-fu Hustle. It was lovely to see him, and it makes a big difference now that we have a guest room and all the space in the house.

Cats needed training in the use of the cat flaps, as they where too posh to push. Not sure if young Tiswas has got the hang of it yet. Although she was through the kitty door as quick as can be if there is ham on the other side!!

Beginning to feel myself slow down for Easter (which I must book off).
